The best Chromebooks combine great reliability with a low price. With Chrome OS, Chromebooks are not as full-featured as typical operating systems such as Windows 10 or macOS, but they are nonetheless a viable alternative to those more traditional options.

A Chromebook is an excellent replacement for traditional laptops. For a reasonable price, it can handle most of the basic tasks you need to accomplish every day and has long battery life. It also comes with features such as decent performance, a great build, and quality specs.

Chromebooks are a great top-notch option for many people. They have everything you need for a lightweight operating system and they’re the best value. If you don’t do any computer-intensive work, Chromebooks might be the perfect choice for you. Here’s our list of the best Chromebooks for 2021:

Google made it possible to take your work anywhere. With the Pixelbook Go, you can do everything you could on a PC or Mac in an incredibly small package.

The Pixelbook Go is a lightweight, powerful laptop with a 13.3-inch touchscreen display that has a 1920 x 1080 resolution. Though it has a smaller screen than some laptops, its 2.33 pounds makes it easy to take anywhere. Not to mention, at 8GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, the Pixelbook Go is packed with power for running a few apps or storing large files.

The Pixelbook Go is the perfect balance between a tablet and a laptop, and it supports the experience of using both. Google does not mention whether or not the Go is compatible with fast charging, but that you can get up to two hours of usage in just 20 minutes with the included adapter. It also says you can get up to 12 hours of usage with the Go, all on one charge.

The Pixelbook Go has a beautiful design and top-notch specs, but it’s let down by its lack of ports. It has two USB-C ports. That means you’ll need to plug in a multi-port hub if you want to connect the old stuff. If you want a premium-looking Chromebook with enough power and battery life, the Google Pixelbook Go is a great option.

The Asus Chromebook Flip C434 is the perfect balance of price, power, and features. It’s a 2-in-1 device with a laptop mode for work, stand mode for watching YouTube, and tablet mode for browsing the web on the couch. It features a bright and sharp 14-inch screen that is great for viewing. Whether you’re working or browsing at home on the couch, this Chromebook has all-day battery life.

The base model of the laptop I tested came equipped with an Intel Core m3 processor. It wasn’t the most powerful chip, but it never stuttered or slowed down when I opened a reasonable number of tabs. However, for around $800 you can upgrade to an Intel Core i3 processor, which will provide more power, as well as double your RAM and storage space.

Acer’s Chromebook 315 is an excellent choice for the budget-conscious. For less than $300, you can get a great, lightweight computer that provides excellent value for your money.

The machine features a large, high-quality 15.6-inch screen. It also has an Intel Celeron processor running at 2.6GHz and 4GB of RAM, which provides the machine with enough power to complete basic tasks such as making presentations or video chatting. It also comes with 32GB of storage for even more productivity. With these specs, the machine is capable of accomplishing all of the tasks that students and office workers need to do every day.

Acer has outfitted the Chromebook 315 with a variety of ports that are compatible with any accessory you need. For instance, it has two USB-A ports for any hard drive or flash drive, two USB-C ports for working with newer devices, and a MicroSD card slot for adding storage. On the downside, the Chromebook 315 does not have an HDMI port. The lack of HDMI is not a huge detractor because the other features more than make up for it.

If you’re looking for a Chromebook for a student, or if your computing needs are fairly light, Acer’s Chromebook 315 is the machine we recommend. It offers an affordable price point, has a long battery life, and is easy to use.

Lenovo Flex 5 Chromebook

  • RAM: 4 GB
  • Storage: 64GB
  • Display: 13.3-inch HD screen
  • Dimensions: 12.2 x 8.43 x 0.67 inches
  • Weight: 2.97 pounds

The Lenovo Flex 5 is a beautiful and affordable laptop. It is built to withstand all of the bumps and bruises that come with traveling or being on the go. Its sleek backlit keyboard and soft-touch feel are also pleasant. The camera has a physical shutter that can be closed when not in use and the front-facing speakers provide an excellent audio experience.

You deserve better Chromebooks, especially when it comes to keyboards. The Flex 5 has one of the best keyboards I’ve seen in a long time, whether it’s at the midrange price range or not. It has a good selection of ports including a microSD card reader and USB-C on both sides, as well as a bright 1920 x 1080 touch display.

The only drawback is that the battery life for the Flex 5 is less than spectacular at around five and a half hours. If you’ll be using your device on the go, you’ll want to make sure you bring the 45W charger with you.

Asus Chromebook Detachable CM3

  • CPU: ARM MediaTek 8183 Processor 2.0 GHz
  • RAM: 4 GB
  • Storage: 64GB
  • Display: 10.5-inch HD screen
  • Dimensions: 10.06 x 6.58 x 0.31 inches
  • Weight: 1.12 pounds

The Asus Chromebook Detachable CM3 is the company’s answer to Lenovo’s highly praised Chromebook Duet. The two devices are very similar in form and function — they both offer a 10.5-inch, 16:10 screen, a fabric cover and kickstand, and a detachable keyboard with a pop-on design. Though it is more expensive than the Duet, it also offers a few extra features.

One unique feature is that the kickstand is foldable into multiple positions. You can fold it the long way to stand the tablet up like a laptop or stand it up horizontally for a uniquely versatile device. We’re not sure how practical this function actually is, but it’s available for you if you have a use case in mind.

The CM3 has very impressive battery life. It can work for you for about 13 hours of continuous work on a single charge. The keys are surprisingly big and provide a lot of travel. It also comes with a USI stylus and roomy keys.

The CM3 is not for everyone. In fact, its MediaTek processor and lack of ports are likely to put off those looking for a convertible Chrome OS device with more power. However, if you’re looking to spend less and want a Chromebook that can multitask and switch between laptop and tablet modes, this could be the one for you.

Samsung’s new Chromebook 2 is a premium device that offers the closest experience to using a PC or Mac. Weighing just 2.7 pounds and about half an inch thick, the Galaxy Chromebook 2 is a sleek machine. It has a 1080P display, 2.1GHz Intel Core i3 processor, 128GB of storage, and 8GB of RAM.

The Galaxy Chromebook 2 has a headphone jack, two USB-C ports, and a MicroSD card slot. These features are suitable for its thin frame design, which makes it easy to move around. Samsung also bundles the Chromebook with the Galaxy S Pen, which allows you to take screenshots with a tap or mark up photos and documents.

Battery life is a tricky thing. Samsung says its latest Chromebook gets 13 hours of use per charge, but that can depend on how much you push the machine. If you want a more traditional-looking, running, and feeling computer, Galaxy Chromebook 2 is a good option.

If versatility is important to you, the Acer Chromebook Spin 311 is a good choice. It has all the features of an amazing Chromebook: it is well-built, has a long battery life, and is easy to use.

Acer has proven that Chromebooks are versatile and even small ones can stand out from the crowd with ports, 2-in-1 design, portability, and a touchscreen. With all these positives, Acer’s Chromebook Spin 311 is a standout. The keyboard and touchpad are also solid and satisfying to use, unlike most laptops of this price point.

This Chromebook is lightweight and compact, making it the perfect laptop for traveling. It’s not too heavy, so you should be able to carry it around with ease. However, if you’re used to a larger laptop, this may not be the best option for you.
