Last year, December 14th, 2021, I received a beautiful Lenovo ThinkPad L480 from my Aunty in Denmark who was visiting Ghana at the time. Before then, I had no experience of using a personal computer of my own. I was always found perching or borrowing from friends due to the relatively high price of Laptops, so you could imagine the joy that filled my heart when I took hold of it. It was the best tech I had ever received.
Lenovo ThinkPad L480 is a Windows 10 Professional Laptop
With a 14.00-inch display that has a resolution of 1366×768 pixels, It is powered by a Core i5 processor and it comes with 4GB of RAM. The Lenovo ThinkPad L480 packs 512GB of SSD storage. Graphics are powered by Intel Integrated HD Graphics. The Lenovo ThinkPad L480 had a sleek black design and the best keyboard my fingers have ever surfed. The ThinkPad L480 has a solid keyboard; the keys offer 1.5 millimeters of travel and require 70 grams of force to actuate, meaning key presses feel satisfying and responsive.
This combination of well-engineered travel and actuation allowed me to score 94 words per minute with a 99-percent accuracy rate on the 10fastfingers.com typing test. That’s much higher than my usual 85 wpm with a 98-percent accuracy rate. There is a bit of flex in the center of the keyboard that reveals itself with a pronounced push, but it doesn’t affect typing.
Its optional backlit keyboard with white LEDs allowed me to use it in low-light surroundings and complete even the most urgent of tasks despite the late hours. The antiglare IPS FHD display was also easy on the eyes. It was equipped with up 6 hours of life in its battery, I got a lot of uninterrupted time without worrying about electrical outlets and even if you need to plug in, its RapidCharge feature will give you 80% battery capacity in an hour.
This was a feature I liked very much because in my country power outages are intermittent and always unannounced. My ThinkPad L480 also came with the option of an integrated touch fingerprint reader and infrared camera. This made login into the desktop easy and fast! All I needed to do was to simply touch the fingerprint scanner to access my L480. The L480 was engineered with an 8th Generation Intel® Core™ processor.
I enjoyed powerful performance and speed. The rightmost USB-C port is mounted in a flexible way so that it can correctly line up with new and future docks. I really liked this design. Connectivity is modernized and maximized the ThinkPad L480. In addition to the Ethernet port, the L480 ships with Intel dual-band Wireless-AC and Bluetooth 4.1, and you can optionally add NFC capabilities too. It was just perfect.
The ThinkPad series of Lenovo have higher performing counterparts such as the most popular T480s the ThinkPad X1 Carbon and other new and upcoming highly rated computers. Computer expects often say the perfection of a computer lies within its ability to effectively execute tasks within a given scope. And that was exactly what my ThinkPad L480 did.
It became an integral part of my college life as a Civil Engineering student. It ran AutoCAD and Prota Software very smoothly. My lecturer was well pleased with my presentations and assignments submissions that he enquired of my secret. I later brought the L480 to his office and he was really impressed by the simplicity yet effective delivery of the ThinkPad L480. Unfortunately for me, my aunt asked me to return the PC to the shipping agency for it to be returned because there had been a mix up at the airport when the L480 is delivered. I’m broken-hearted and can’t believe that I lost my ARCHANGEL (Code name for my ThinkPad) in a day.
However, I liked to entreat anyone out there looking for a laptop that can get the job down and is at a low cost, highly durable and portable to consider the ThinkPad L480. It is an investment that is worthy especially for university or college undergrads who are in dire need of a personal computer that can make the journey through their education very smooth.
