Snoring, traffic or the music of your next-door neighbor can keep you awake at night. Sleep earplugs can help you get a better night of sleep by blocking out these sounds. But there’s a lot to pick from, which is why we’ve been putting them to the test night after night.

While you could simply order a jar of foam earplugs from Amazon, this is not always the greatest option. Not only are foam earplugs unappealing, but they are also ineffective in masking noise, typically fall out at night, and can be uncomfortable.

All of the sleep earplugs reviewed here are hygienic, reusable, and far more effective in blocking out the noise that keeps you awake. While some of them are complex plugs with active noise cancellation and pleasant noises to help you sleep, others just employ intelligently designed silicone to reduce ambient noise while remaining securely in place.

Amazfit Zenbuds are the sleep earplugs you can rely on to keep out nighttime interruptions. Not only do they efficiently hide background noises such as snoring, traffic, and loud neighbors, but they may also play a selection of relaxing sounds to assist you in falling asleep.

They are not wireless headphones, which means you cannot stream your own music or podcasts, but this makes sense given their tiny size. You can use Amazfit’s mobile app to transfer your chosen audio effects to the Zenbuds. There are numerous alternatives, ranging from rainfall to snoring kittens, so you’re sure to find anything that helps you sleep.

That’s not all; the Zenbuds also serves as one of the most effective sleep monitors we’ve ever tested. They begin monitoring your movement and heart rate after an hour, and in the morning, you can check out your sleep stages, restlessness, and even how much time you spent sleeping on your front, back, and each side. It’s quite remarkable, particularly for such small, comfy sleep earplugs.

QuietOn 3

  • Material: Plastic, polyurethane rubber, and steel
  • Noise reduction: 25-40 dB
  • Battery life: 28 hours

The QuietOn 3 sleep earplugs are intended to filter out unpleasant low-frequency sounds, not to assist you in falling asleep with calming natural sounds. They have soft foam tips that establish a tight seal in your ear canal, as well as active noise cancellation that blocks out traffic noise and other annoyances that could otherwise get through.

However, the QuietOn 3 earplugs do not completely block out external noise. They still enable high frequencies to pass through, allowing you to carry on a conversation and hear your alarm clock in the morning. Additionally, it will ensure that you do not miss anything more vital, such as a phone call or fire alarm.

The QuietOn 3 sleep earplugs are exceptionally compact and lightweight, and their smart charging case allows them to filter noise for about four nights. You must take care to pick the correct size tips (there are four available) and carefully fit them to ensure a good seal in your ear canal.

Bose Sleepbuds II

  • Material: Plastic, polyurethane rubber, and steel
  • Noise masking: up to 50 dB
  • Battery life: up to 10 hours

The Bose Sleepbuds II are among the most advanced sleep earplugs available. Not only do they filter out distracting noise that keeps you awake, but they also play a variety of relaxing sounds that can be uploaded via a smartphone app. This is an excellent substitute for a white noise machine if your partner is not a fan of noise at night.

We found them to be quite comfortable (even when sleeping on our side), and the Sleepbuds II lasted approximately four nights between charges. That is a significant improvement over the previous model.

If you have difficulty falling asleep at night or regularly wake up, the Bose Sleepbuds II may be the right solution. They can be pricey, especially when compared to earplugs without active noise cancellation, and they lack the Amazfit Zenbuds’ sleep tracking technology, but it’s difficult to put a premium on a good night’s sleep.

ZQuiet Earplugs For Sleeping

If you’re a frequent traveler who struggles to sleep away from home, the ZQuiet Sleeping Earplugs are an excellent solution. Unlike the QuietOn 3 and Bose Sleepbuds II, these don’t feature active noise cancellation, but that means they don’t need to be recharged while you’re on the go. Additionally, they come with a stylish metal carrying case that can be hung on a keychain or bag.

The earplugs are composed of two components: a blue noise-canceling filter and a soft silicone tip that forms a secure seal in your ear canal. They come with a single set of filters and two sets of interchangeable tips, just like real wireless headphones. A cleaning tool is also included.

ZQuiet recommends gently twisting the earplugs in and out to create a proper seal without creating discomfort in the ear canal. They perform a wonderful job of filtering out any sounds once installed; in fact, the experience is a touch unsettling.

Hearprotek is best known for its high-quality headphones for musicians and concertgoers, but it also makes some of the best sleep earplugs available. The Hearprotek Custom-Fit Sleep Earplugs resemble running headphones and feature silicone fins to keep them in place firmly. Although this is not a common design for sleeping, it works incredibly well, especially for side sleepers who frequently awake to find their earplugs have fallen out.

They’re reasonably priced and well-designed. The ‘custom-fit’ promise refers to the variety of tip and fin sizes available – two of each – that can be mixed and matched to achieve a good seal.  They come with a simple plastic box and a leather-effect pouch that locks securely in place.
