Anker Soundcore Life Q20

Features: Bluetooth, Noise-canceling

Battery Life: 30 hours

You won’t get a better deal for noise-canceling over-the-ear headphones than the Anker Soundcore Life Q20.  At $49, you get decent sound quality, 40 hours of playback time, and active noise cancellation. Just don’t expect too much, though. Keep in mind that you’re paying for an entry-level pair. But a solid one, nonetheless.

This Bluetooth 5.0-enabled headphone offers excellent connectivity. We did not experience any audio dropouts while walking around the apartment even when getting behind a wall. The sound quality is decent but may lack some detail. The tonal balance leans toward the warm side and emphasizes the bass. The Soundcore Life Q20 is easy to listen to even for hours. Active noise cancellation can block out most low-volume background noise but struggles against low bass or high frequencies.

Features: Bluetooth, noise-canceling, 3.5mm stereo jack

Battery Life: 12 hours

The JBL Tune 600BTNC delivers decent performance for a modest price. It may not be the perfect headphone, but the price tag makes it easy to recommend. You get quality sound in a solid, durable, and lightweight device. If you’re looking for wireless, on-ear headphones with active noise cancellation, and signature JBL Pure Bass Sound, then this is the one for you.

Pairing via Bluetooth is quick and easy. Battery life is impressive. Our headphones lasted 12 hours with Bluetooth and ANC turned on and a whopping 22 hours with just the Bluetooth on. Total battery charging time is two hours and a 3.5mm jack is located on the right speaker for continued listening.

With a 32mm driver, the JBL Tune 600BTNC handles all frequencies pretty well. It delivers deep bass, with a crisp and clear sound. Mids and highs are satisfactory and not ear-piercing. Noise-cancellation is good but not stellar. The earpads may not be efficient at blocking noise especially for those with larger ears. The ANC handles low-frequency noises better than high pitch sounds.

With the recent price cut, the Plantronics BackBeat Fit 500 is hard to ignore. At $45, you get high-quality performance in a solid and comfortable on-ear design. This mid-range headphone offers a great compromise between performance, style, and cost. We were surprised at how good this headphone sounds. It can go toe to toe with more expensive models in its category. If you’re into hip-hop, rock, and other bass-heavy tracks you’re in for a treat.

Bluetooth connectivity is flawless. We did not encounter interruptions during streams or phone calls. Controls on the ear cups provide added convenience and help users easily navigate tracks and volume levels on any paired device. While we did not get the promised 18-hour battery life, our headphones lasted a full working day, which is all I was hoping for.
